The challenge of being a Carer goes beyond the care that’s dispensed. On top of the love that we show to others as a means of looking after their needs, we still need to think about ourselves. Hypnotherapy can help with the simple little challenges that make the care journey an easier load to carry.

Think about the following challenges:
Stress
Weight management (snacking)
Dealing with health professionals such as nurses and doctors and hospitals and reception staff
Worry and anxiety
Pain Management
The wellbeing of the mind
Quitting Smoking

These are just a few of the areas where the expertise of a professionally qualified individual trained to NCH (National Council for Hypnotherapy) standards can be part of the enabling journey to success!

Patrick Brady is a past trustee of the British Thyroid Foundation a charity he supported as a result of being a carer for an ill child, a child who was ill over a period of years, not just months. Patrick says, “Simple daily tools can be practised, tools that can make us stronger, more positive, develop new abilities to cope. A session of hypnotherapy has been shown to be a useful contribution of sustaining someone who finds the carer’s role can present unforeseen challenges. We all want to do our best and my sessions help us achieve your best. It’s all we can do – to be our best!”

Dr Suzanne Zeedyk
Dr Suzanne Zeedyk
Dr. Suzanne Zeedyk is a research scientist fascinated by babies’ innate capacity to connect. Since 1993, she has been based at the University of Dundee (Scotland), within the School of Psychology. Her academic career began in the USA, where she completed her PhD at Yale University.

In 2011, Suzanne stepped away from a full-time academic post in order to establish an independent training enterprise. Its aim is to help the public understand all that science has discovered about the importance of emotional connection for human health and happiness. It’s working! Approximately 40,000 people have now attended her speaking events, and she reaches over 50,000 people a week on social media. She works internationally with organisations who are keen to think more deeply about fostering connection, compassion and resilience.

In 2014, Suzanne broadened her public reach even further by founding the organization connected baby. She and her team work to help parents and professionals make practical use of the science of connection. Relationships matter – as much for human brains as for human hearts.

Suzanne’s core aspiration continues to be strengthening awareness of the decisions we take about caring for our children — because those choices are integrally connected to our vision for the kind of society we wish to build.

The Young Carers Take-Over

There is an estimated 166000 Young Carers across the UK (Source: Carers Trust).

Every week, Care Radio UK dedicates a programme to give them a voice. However, what’s unique about this is they take over the station. They decide on interviews. They decide on guests. They decide on Presenters. They decide on music.

Care Radio UK is looking for Young Carers across the UK to take part on a weekly basis.

Not only is this a respite opportunity but it’s also a chance for young people to learn new skills, make new friends and share their experiences to help other Young Carers. And you never know, we may find one or two future broadcasting superstars as well!

Wayne and Jimmy – Unplugged

Wayne Douglas O’Hare and Jimmy Smart are two Scottish taxi drivers by day and two extremely talented entertainers by night! They are also Carers.

Initially famed for entertaining their passengers and live audiences in their hometown of Dundee, Wayne and Jimmy shot to fame after TV executives saw their performances on social media and invited them to star on a Saturday night primetime television programme. The nation took them to their hearts and now the Singing Cabbies are in demand all over the UK and beyond!

Wayne and Jimmy – Unplugged is a monthly show in which they invite Carers and those they care for into the studio and perform live for the audience. The programme is full of laughs, lively chat, some very special guests and live music.

Like all Care Radio UK programmes…this is one not to be missed!
